Manchester Literature Festival has worked with BBC Radio 4 to commission five writers to tell the stories of places you walk past every day without ever seeing. The resulting five 15-minute stories from eminent Manchester writers shed light on these places, open our eyes to the living history of the city around us, and bring us into contact with new and unfamiliar aspects of a city we thought we knew. On 12th and 13th October, BBC Radio4 will record each story in situ, with actors performing in front of a small audience. Time TBC At 3.30pm every day between Monday 16th and Friday 21st October you can listen to BBC Radio4's afternoon reading, or visit the Listen Again site to hear them again. Seating is extremely limited; to apply to be in the audience, please email [email protected] by 10th October.
Authors include: Nicholas Royle at Godlee Astronomical Observatory Rajeev Balasubramanyam at Chetham’s Library Reading Room, Amanda Dalton at Manchester Police Museum, Sophie Hannah at Sangam Restaurant and Jackie Kay at The Gaskell House, Plymouth Grove.
