Want to set up a website for the first time? Or maximise the traffic and sales from your existing site? This seminar is aimed at all publishers and authors who want to make the most of the internet in selling and promoting their work. Presented by Alex Kelly of Oxygen Computers and Calum Kerr of CK Publishing - web design experts with extensive experience of working in the literature sector - the seminar will cover the following topics: Part One: How to set up a website - how much it costs, domain registration and hosting, how to approach design and layout for maximum usability, how to sell books through your website. Part Two: search engine optimisation; approaches to increasing traffic, and how to convert that traffic into online sales; monitoring stats; general tricks of the trade. If there are any other related topics that members would like to be covered, please drop me a line, and I'll pass your request to Alex and Calum. Authors/publishers who don't already have a website will be able to set one up during the session (though there will registration and hosting charges for this - in the region of 30-40quid in total, so bring your chequebook if you want to walk away from the session with a whole new website, and the ability to edit it). We'll get the exact cost to people before the event, but if you DON'T have a website at present (or would like to start again), get in touch ahead of the event and talk you about your needs beforehand. If you do have website this event will still be of considerable use: in terms of imrpovement, navigation, design and general web profile and direct selling. The Seminar is being held in the IT Training Room of Manchester Central Library (2nd Floor). Places are limited, so please RSVP to [email protected] if you know you're coming.
