Tóibín won the Whitbread First Novel prize for The South, and The Blackwater Lightship and The Master were shortlisted for the Man Booker. The latter also won the LA Times and Impac Book awards. O'Hagan’s Our Fathers was shortlisted for the Man Booker, and won the James Tait Black Memorial prize. His new book is The Atlantic Ocean: Essays on Britain and America.
