Maurice Bessman's first professional job in writing was with BBC Radio Merseyside in a twice weekly family drama The Merseysiders. He then moved quickly into television where he has since written extensively for many shows including Brookside, Holby City,  Casualty and Courtroom. His stage plays include Cleo and The Liverpool Boat (co-written with Marie Jones) and the comedy A Little Pinch of Chilli. At present he is writing for the channel 4 hit series Hollyoaks.
