One of the most successful poets writing in Britain today, Carol Ann Duffy has published scores of books and works in a range of genres including writing for children, drama, radio drama, reviews and, of course, poetry.
Her inclusion in this year’s Sefton Celebrates Writing Festival marks a welcome return to Sefton by this hugely popular and highly acclaimed writer whose previous appearances have always been a high point in Sefton’s live readings programme. Carol Ann Duffy is supported by Jean Sprackland, a Sefton based poet whose reputation as an important British poet has grown with the publication of each new collection. Her works have been shortlisted for the prestigious Forward Prize for Best First Collection, the Whitbread Prize and the T. S. Eliot Prize. More recently she won the 2007 Costa Poetry Award for her third collection, Tilt (Cape 2007).
