Celebrate National Poetry Day in style with Manchester-based publisher Carcanet Press and friends. Poetry readings will take place all afternoon throughout Waterstones and be broadcast to customers over the store’s Tannoy system. Drop in to the Event Room during the afternoon or sample the special poetry-themed menu on offer in the Waterstones café, where readings will take place at lunchtime and early evening, featuring authors from a variety of poetry presses including Carcanet, Faber, Bloodaxe, Gallery and Smith/Doorstop. The celebrations will culminate in an event at 7pm with National Poet of Wales Gillian Clarke in conversation with publisher Michael Schmidt and reading from her new collection Ice.
