The Owl Ensemble is a seven piece group comprising a string quartet with a jazz trio, with an inventive and subversive approach, and rhythmic patterns and soaring melodies. Olivia Moore (trained in classical, Indian and jazz violin) and drummer Myke Wilson formed the band in 2008, premiering at Manchester Jazz Festival; the string quartet performed in Paul Heaton’s ‘The 8th’ at the Manchester International Festival. Their album Owl has been praised by the British Jazz Blog as the work of 'a true innovator ... there’s an enormous sense that this album will go a long way to fill that feeling you’ve not heard that that ‘perfect sound’ yet.'
