Sherry's writing career kicked off with the bestselling comic novel, A Matter of Fat, and seven other issuebased comic novels for women followed in due course. Now she writes for children and young adults; her recent novel, Blinded By The Light, won the 2003 North East Book Award and was shortlisted for the Lancashire Book of the Year Award. Her first children's title the fantasy The Dream Travellers was published this year, and May 2005 will see the launch of Paralysed, a young adult novel about a spinal cord injured boy. Sherry enjoys school and library visits, and is a freelance broadcaster and occasional journalist. She still teaches English parttime as she loves the buzz of the classroom.
